Advice for Internationals

Moving to a new country is possibly the biggest decision you will make, and potentially a very daunting one. We’re here to tell you that you are not alone, and we will do everything in our power to ensure the transition is seamless.

Our teams are always on hand to help you with anything you need throughout your entire journey with us, from enquiry through to living with us and making LUNA your home away from home.

  • Viewings

At LUNA Students we fully appreciate the importance of giving all our tenants and prospective tenants the opportunity to view our accommodation.

Not in the UK to view your new room? Not to worry, simply head to the location you will be studying in and take a look at the room tours we have under 360 Degree Tours.

If this isn’t enough, reach out to our property team who will arrange a virtual facetime or Skype Call with you to walk you through the property and answer any questions you may have.

  • Booking your room

We’ve made it super easy! To book a room, just select ‘book now’ on our website and complete our step by step booking process where you select a room, tenancy length, instalment plan and once happy pay an online deposit to secure.

If you’re still waiting for acceptance of your VISA application, don’t worry, you can still apply. If you are an international student and your VISA application is declined, you may be eligible to be released from the agreement. You must provide copies of official written evidence from the University (and relevant VISA authorities) to the Property Team within 5 calendar days of the decision being notified to you. If adequate evidence is provided, you will be eligible for release from the tenancy agreement and the full deposit, and any rent paid will be returned to you.

  • Paying your rent

If you are an international student and would like to pay your rent in instalments, you will need a qualified UK guarantor. If you are unable to provide your own UK Guarantor, we recommend the service of Housing Hand.

When completing your booking simply select “Use Housing Hand as my Guarantor”. You will then be directed to the Housing Hand platform to complete your application with them. You can find further information and prices via their website – or by calling them on +44 (0) 20 7205 2625.

You only require a guarantor if you wish to pay your rent in instalments. Many international students chose to pay their rent in full without the need for a guarantor.

Avoid transfer fees! TransferMate lets you make international payments to LUNA Students, without paying international bank charges whilst receiving competitive foreign exchange rates. This is a great option for students wishing to pay their rent in any other currency than GBP. Simply head to your LUNA accommodation account and select Transfermate when completing payment of your rent.

If completing payment by bank transfer or Transfermate transactions can take up to 10 days to clear in our account, as such you will need to account for this to give enough time for the payment to clear by the payment due date.
